At The Salvation Army Okanagan Central, our community ministries are founded on the belief that lasting change is possible. While we are committed to helping meet immediate needs, our greater goal is to empower individuals and families to move beyond crisis toward lives marked by stability, dignity, and self-sufficiency.
We come alongside people during life's challenges, providing support, encouragement, advocacy, and access to resources that help strengthen individuals, families, and our community.

Our history
Commuity Ministries
Our Community Services are offered in Westbank and Rutland and provide safe haven – a place where you can find hope. When you call for an appointment you will meet with a caseworker. Our caseworkers are great listeners – they know it takes time to work through each situation. Each situation is unique and we create an individual plan to meet your needs. We love to walk alongside your journey.
Our Thrift Stores in Westbank and Rutland play an important role in supporting The Salvation Army's mission, vision, and values. While shoppers often visit in search of affordable treasures and great deals, they frequently discover something even more meaningful: a welcoming community where they are known, valued, and cared for.
Our dedicated staff take time to build genuine relationships, often greeting customers by name and offering encouragement when it is needed most. At a customer's request, staff may also provide prayer and spiritual support. Through connections with our caseworkers, individuals and families facing financial hardship can access essential items at no cost, helping them meet immediate needs while supporting their journey toward greater stability, independence, and long-term self-sufficiency.
Our Thrift Stores generate funds for our programs and services. When you shop, donate, or volunteer at our stores you help us to live our motto “Giving Hope Today!”
